Journalist claims Arsenal need to sell before sixth summer signing
Arsenal need to sell some players to fund a move to sign Sevilla midfielder Steven N'Zonzi this summer, according to Dharmesh Sheth
Arsenal will need to sell players to fund a move for Steven N’Zonzi this summer, Dharmesh Sheth has claimed.
The Gunners have already been very active in the summer transfer window since Unai Emery’s appointment.
The Spanish head coach brought in Switzerland international Stephan Lichtsteiner in a free transfer from Juventus.
The north London side snapped up Bayer Leverkusen and Germany goalkeeper Bernd Leno in the current transfer window.
Arsenal improved their defence with Borussia Dortmund centre-half Sokratis Papastathopoulos to bolster Arsene Wenger’s back four.
World Cup star Lucas Torreira was the fourth player to move to the Gunners in a big money deal this summer.
Emery landed his fifth player in the shape of French teenager Matteo Guendouzi to plan for the future.
Sky Sports News reporter Sheth doesn’t expect Arsenal to sign N’Zonzi unless the Gunners sell some players.
“Arsenal have had quite a good window,” Sheth told the Transfer Talk podcast. “Emery says they won’t go into the market unless there is a big opportunity.
“Could it be N’Zonzi? They have been in talks but Sevilla won’t sell less for £35m. To fund a big move they would have to have departures.”
Arsenal finished in sixth spot in the Premier League table last season to miss out on Champions League football.
