Arsenal end interest in 29-year-old La Liga star – report
Arsenal have ended their pursuit of Sevilla midfielder Steven N'Zonzi in the current transfer window, according to a report
Arsenal have pulled out of the race to sign France international Steven N’Zonzi from Sevilla this summer, according to a report in Spain.
Spanish media outlet Estadio Deportivo, as quoted by Metro, is reporting that Arsenal boss Unai Emery called N’Zonzi to congratulate the former Blackburn Rovers midfielder on winning the World Cup with France.
The same article states that the north London side have decided to end their interest in the 29-year-old defensive midfielder in the current transfer window.
According to the same story, Arsenal have made the decision to look at other holding midfielders this summer to improve Emery’s squad ahead of the new Premier League season.
Emery has already been very busy since taking over the reins from Arsene Wenger after the French head coach stood down at the end of the 2017-18 Premier League season.
Arsenal signed experienced Switzerland international Stephan Lichtsteiner in a free transfer from Serie A giants Juventus.
The Gunners have also brought in Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper Bernd Leno in a £20m deal.
The north London outfit have also brought on Greece international Sokratis Papastathopoulos from Borussia Dortmund earlier this week.
Lucas Torreira became the fourth addition at The Emirates last week before Lorient teenager Matteo Guendouzi finalised a move.
