Journalist explains what Arsenal must do to sign France star
Sky Sports News reporter Dharmesh Sheth says the Gunners will need to offload players to fund a move to sign Steven N'Zonzi
Arsenal will need to sell to fund a move to sign Sevilla midfielder Steven N’Zonzi this summer, according to Dharmesh Sheth.
The World Cup winner has been touted with a potential switch to the League Cup runners up since his ex-Sevilla boss Unai Emery took over the reins from Arsene Wenger at the end of last season.
The Spanish midfielder has already looked to improve their options in the middle of the park after inheriting a squad with some significant defensive issues.
Arsenal secured Switzerland international Granit Xhaka on a new long-term deal before Emery completed a £26m deal to sign Uruguay international Lucas Torreira from Serie A outfit Sampdoria.
Sky Sports News reporter Sheth warned the Gunners that they will need to offload players to fund a bid to sign N’Zonzi this summer.
“A big signing could be N’Zonzi,” Sheth told the Transfer Talk podcast.
“But I think they would have to sell to fund a move.”
N’Zonzi played under Emery for one season following his move to Sevilla from Stoke City in 2015 before the Spanish head coach took over PSG, which could work to the north London side’s advantage.
Arsenal have signed Juventus defender Stephan Lichtsteiner, Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper Bernd Leno, French teenager Matteo Guendouzi and Borussia Dortmund defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos.
The Gunners finished in sixth spot in the Premier League table last season.
