Arsenal in talks to sign 29-year-old France midfielder – report
Arsenal are holding discussions with Steven N'Zonzi with regards to a potential summer transfer move, according to a report
Arsenal are in talks with Sevilla to sign France international Steven N’Zonzi, according to a report in England.
Sky Sports is reporting that the Gunners have opened discussions with the former Blackburn Rovers midfielder with regards to a potential switch to the north London club in the summer transfer window.
Unai Emery brought N’Zonzi to Sevilla in a £7m deal from Stoke City in 2015 and the pair won the Europa League together following a 3-1 victory over Premier League side Liverpool FC in May 2016.
N’Zonzi has also been attracting reported interest from Arsenal’s bitter north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur over the past few days.
Sevilla will presumably be hoping that the two London clubs will become embroiled in a bidding war to drive up N’Zonzi’s transfer fee should the La Liga side decide to sell.
Arsenal have also been linked with a move to sign Sampdoria midfielder Lucas Torreira and Valencia dynamo Ever Banega to improve their options in the middle of the park.
The League Cup runners up have signed veteran Switzerland international Stephan Lichtsteiner in a free transfer from Serie A giants Juventus.
The Gunners have also recruited Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper Bernd Leno in a £20m deal.
The north London outfit have also brought on Greece international Sokratis Papastathopoulos from Borussia Dortmund earlier this week.
