Arsenal face battle with two Premier League clubs to sign 29-year-old La Liga star – report
Arsenal will compete with Everton and West Ham United to sign France and Sevilla midfielder Steven N'Zonzi, according to a report
Arsenal are embroiled in a battle with Everton and West Ham United to sign Sevilla midfielder Steven N’Zonzi in the summer transfer window, according to a report in France.
French media outlet Le10 Sport, as quoted by the Daily Mirror, is reporting that the France international is a target for Arsenal in the current transfer window to improve Unai Emery’s options in the middle of the park.
The same article states that the Premier League trio haven’t put an offer on the table for the experienced 29-year-old holding midfielder given his continued participation in the World Cup in Russia.
According to the same story, Emery’s past working relationship with N’Zonzi could give Arsenal the upper hand in the race to sign the former Blackburn Rovers and Stoke City midfielder.
Arsenal have already signed experienced Switzerland captain Stephan Lichtsteiner in a free transfer from Serie A giants Juventus earlier this summer to improve their options at full-back.
The Gunners spent £20m on Germany international Bernd Leno to sign the shot stopper from Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen.
Arsenal bolstered their options at centre-half with the addition of Greece international Sokratis Papastathopoulos from Borussia Dortmund last week.
