David Luiz has insisted that he is planning to stay at Chelsea FC and is determined to help the Blues challenge for the Premier League title next season.

The Brazilian defender was a key part of Antonio Conte’s title winning side in the 2016-17 season as he helped the Blues to win the Premier League in the Italian manager’s first season at the club.

However, David Luiz fell down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge last term as he struggled to hold down a regular spot in the first team under Conte.

The defender’s lack of playing time last season has inevitably sparked speculation about his future at the west London club.

However, the player himself has now underlined his commitment to the west London side by insisting that he is happy at Stamford Bridge as he looks to fight for a regular spot in the first team under new manager Maurizio Sarri next season.

Speaking in an interview quoted by the Daily Telegraph, David Luiz said: “When I took my decision to come back here from Paris it was to win the Premier League and to do something again with Chelsea. I came back to stay here.”

Chelsea FC will be aiming to challenge for the Premier League title next season after the Blues finished in a disappointing fifth place in the table last term under Sarri.
