Cesc Fabregas has paid tribute to Antonio Conte after the Chelsea FC manager’s departure was all but confirmed on Thursday evening.

The former Juventus manager has been teetering on the brink at Stamford Bridge over the past few months but the Blues hadn’t made an announcement about his future at the west London club.

Ex-Napoli boss Maurizio Sarri has been heavily linked with the Chelsea FC post after Carlo Ancelotti replaced the contoversial Italian coach at Napoli earlier this summer.

Conte led Chelsea FC to the Premier League title in his first season in charge after the Blues finished seven points ahead of their closest title challengers Tottenham Hotspur.

The Blues added the FA Cup to their trophy haul under Conte back in May following Chelsea FC’s 1-0 win against Manchester United at Wembley courtesy of Eden Hazard’s winner from the penalty spot.

Reports in England suggested that some of Chelsea FC’s senior players were unhappy with Conte’s abrasive style of management.

However, Fabregas was quick to take to Twitter to send a heartfelt message to the axed Blues boss.

Fabregas wrote on Twitter: “Thank you Mister for another Premier League title and FA Cup. It wasn’t easy for me to convince you in the beginning but in the end I hope I did you proud! Good luck for the future. #CFC”

Chelsea FC finished in fifth spot in the Premier League table last season to miss out on a Champions League spot.
