Thibaut Courtois reacts to Chelsea FC’s appointment of Maurizio Sarri
Thibaut Courtois warns Chelsea FC that it will take some time for the Blues to adapt to life under Maurizio Sarri
Thibaut Courtois has warned Chelsea FC fans that it will take some time for the Blues to adapt to life under Maurizio Sarri.
The Italian was confirmed as the club’s new manager over the weekend after the west London club opted to part company with Antonio Conte.
Sarri moved quickly to confirm his first Chelsea FC signing of the summer as the Blues completed a deal to bring Jorginho to Stamford Bridge over the weekend.
The former Napoli boss will be aiming to transform Chelsea FC into Premier League title contenders next season after they finished in fifth place in the table last term.
Courtois has been on international duty with Belgium at the World Cup and he has admitted that he was surprised that it took so long for Chelsea FC to appoint their new manager.
Courtois is quoted as saying by the Daily Mail: “It’s hard to talk about it because I don’t know exactly what happened.
“But the decision that was made a few days ago, I think as a group we expected that a longer time to happen because we heard what the board said to us already after the season and then it takes until now.
“I don’t think it’s easy for a new manager to come in and shape us in a few weeks. I think fans need to understand we will need some time to adapt to the new manager and a different style.
“I know Dries Mertens and he told me really well about Sarri, so I’m looking forward to come back and win some prizes.”
Chelsea FC will be looking to at least break back into the top four next season as they look to try and bounce back from their disappointing campaign last term.
The Blues did end last season on a positive note by beating Manchester United in the FA Cup final at Wembley back in May.
