Latest update on Eden Hazard and Thibaut Courtois’ Chelsea FC futures – report
Eden Hazard and Thibaut Courtois would have left Chelsea FC if Antonio Conte had stayed as manager, say reports
Eden Hazard and Thibaut Courtois were likely to have left Chelsea FC this summer if Antonio Conte had stayed on as manager of the west London club, according to reports in the British media.
The Daily Express is reporting that the duo’s futures played a key role in convincing the Blues to part company with the Italian manager after two years in charge at Stamford Bridge.
Both Hazard and Courtois’ futures have been sources of much speculation this summer as the uncertainty surrounding the managerial situation at Chelsea FC continued.
The same report claims that both players would have sought to leave the west London club this summer had Conte stayed on as manager.
Courtois’ current contract at Stamford Bridge is due to expire at the end of next season and that has prompted talk of a move to Real Madrid this summer.
Hazard has also long been linked with a move to the Bernabeu and that speculation has heightened since Chelsea FC missed out on a place in next season’s Champions League following their fifth-placed finish last term.
Chelsea FC will be looking to at least break back into the top four next season after their disappointing campaign last term.
