Chelsea FC are making a late bid to try and sign Jorginho ahead of Manchester City this summer, according to reports in the British regional media.

The Manchester Evening News is reporting that the west London side are being linked with a move to try and bring the 26-year-old midfielder to Stamford Bridge this summer, despite Manchester City having been thought to be winning the race to sign him this summer.

Chelsea FC are yet to officially announce any new signings this summer as they look to reassemble their squad ahead of next season.

The Blues appear to have been held back in the transfer market by the uncertainty surrounding the managerial situation at Stamford Bridge.

However, the same report is quoting unnamed sources in Italy as saying that Chelsea FC could be set to make a move to land Jorginho this summer ahead of Manchester City.

Chelsea FC will be looking to at least assemble a squad capable of breaking back into the top four next season after the Blues ended up in fifth place last term.

They did manage to end last season on a positive note by beating Manchester United in the FA Cup final back in May.
