Gary Lineker has claimed that Chelsea FC fans are “in for a treat” after Maurizio Sarri was appointed as the club’s new manager on Saturday.

The Italian boss has been confirmed as the west London club’s new manager after the sacking of Antonio Conte last week.

The 59-year-old has signed a three-year contract with the Blues as he looks to try and steer them back into the top four next season following their disappointing fifth-placed finish under Conte last season.

Sarri earned plenty of praise for the style of play he was able to get his team playing at Napoli last season.

And former England star Lineker believes that Chelsea FC fans will be thrilled by the style of play that Sarri is likely to bring to the west London club.

Lineker wrote on Twitter after Sarri’s appointment was confirmed on Saturday morning: “Maurizio Sarri is the new @ChelseaFC coach.

“If he creates a team as entertaining to watch as Napoli were under his stewardship then Chelsea’s fans are in for a treat.”

Chelsea FC will be looking to at least break back into the top four next season as they bid to try and enjoy a successful first campaign under Sarri.

The Blues ended up fifth in the Premier League table and won the FA Cup in Conte’s final campaign in charge at the club last season.
