Pep Guardiola has insisted that he was not disappointed to see Jorginho snub a transfer to Manchester City by signing for Chelsea FC this summer.

The Brazil born Italy international became Chelsea FC’s first signing of the summer last weekend when he moved to the west London club from Napoli along with manager Maurizio Sarri.

The move came as something of a surprise as Jorginho had been strongly linked with a transfer to Manchester City in the early parts of the summer transfer window.

Guardiola was asked for his reaction to Jorginho’s move to Chelsea FC, and the Manchester City boss delivered his honest verdict on the transfer after it went through last weekend.

Guardiola is quoted as saying by Metro: “No, we are not disappointed. We tried, we thought already it was done.

“My advice is for players to go where they want to go. It would have been a mistake if he had come here when he wanted to go to Maurizio and Chelsea.

“English football received an exceptional player at the end. If they don’t want to come it is better they don’t come. All the best for him.”

Meanwhile, Chelsea FC are believed to still be on the lookout for a number of new signings this summer as they look to build a squad capable of winning the Premier League title next season.

The west London side ended up in fifth place in the table last term as they missed out on Champions League qualification for next season.

Chelsea FC did manage to end the campaign on a positive note by beating Manchester United in the FA Cup final back in May.
