Rob Green has admitted his surprise and delight at becoming Chelsea FC’s second signing of the summer transfer window.

The goalkeeper joined the Blues this week as Maurizio Sarri moved quickly to bolster his options at the back ahead of his first season in charge at Stamford Bridge.

Green becomes Chelsea FC’s second signing of the summer after the Blues brought in midfielder Jorginho from Napoli.

The 38-year-old has signed a one-year contract with the Stamford Bridge outfit and the goalkeeper admitted that the chance to move to Chelsea FC was too good to turn down.

Speaking to Chelsea FC’s website, Green said: “It has been a whirlwind 24 hours.

“You are thinking about your career and where you want to go and then you get a phone call like this, and it is a short conversation.

“It has been a pretty dramatic time for me and I can’t wait to get started. I am absolutely delighted and it is a thrill and an honour to be here.”

Chelsea FC are still thought to be on the lookout for a number of new signings this summer as they look to try and build a squad capable of winning the title next season.

The west London side finished in fifth place in the table last term and won the FA Cup under Antonio Conte before the Italian was sacked earlier this month.

The Blues then moved quickly to bring Sarri in as the club’s new manager ahead of the new season, as they look to try and break back into the top four at the very least next term.
