Maurizio Sarri has insisted that his primary objective is to get his Chelsea FC squad having “fun” next season.

The Italian manager is getting used to life at Stamford Bridge after having been appointed as the club’s new manager over the weekend following Antonio Conte’s sacking.

Sarri has been tasked with at least steering Chelsea FC back into the top four of the Premier League after the Blues missed out on Champions League qualification and finished fifth last season.

The west London side will be aiming to try and mount a Premier League title challenge in Sarri’s first campaign at the club.

And Sarri has insisted that his main priority is to get his Chelsea FC squad playing in a way that they enjoy.

Speaking at a news conference at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday, Sarri said: “I don’t want to change anything in the club’s philosophy. In recent years this has been one of the best clubs in Europe.

“Football is not a sport, but a game. And anybody who plays a game started doing so as a child to have fun. So the child in each of us must be nurtured as this often makes us the best.

“Trying to create a [style of] play that has fun is the first thing to obtain from a very high-level squad.”

Chelsea FC have so far only signed Jorginho in the summer transfer window as they look to try and challenge for the title next term.

The Blues are thought to be on the lookout for a number of other new signings in the coming weeks as the west London side look to try and build a squad at least capable of breaking back into the top four.
