Maurizio Sarri has revealed his delight at being appointed as Chelsea FC’s new manager.

The Italian boss was finally confirmed as the club’s new manager on Saturday after the Blues parted company with Antonio Conte last week.

Former Napoli boss Sarri has signed a three-year contract with the west London side as he looks to try and transform them back into Premier League title challengers for next season.

The 59-year-old will now look to make a number of new signings this summer as he bids to build a squad capable of at least breaking back into the top four.

And Sarri has revealed his happiness at signing for Chelsea FC after months of speculation linking him with the Stamford Bridge job.

Speaking in an interview with Chelsea FC’s website, Sarri said: “I am very happy to be coming to Chelsea and the Premier League. It is an exciting new period in my career.

“I look forward to starting work and meeting the players on Monday ahead of travelling to Australia, where I will be able to get to know the squad and begin our match action.

“I hope we can provide some entertaining football for our fans, and that we will be competing for trophies at the end of the season, which is what this club deserves.”

Chelsea FC ended up in fifth place in the Premier League table last season as they missed out on Champions League qualification.

The west London side did manage to end Conte’s final campaign on a positive note, however, by beating Manchester United to win the FA Cup in the final back in May.

The Blues will be looking to mount a serious title challenge next term under Sarri following their disappointing campaign under Conte.
