Reporter delivers update on key Chelsea FC star’s transfer situation
Duncan Castles delivers the latest news on Thibaut Courtois' situation at Chelsea FC
Chelsea FC will not let Thibaut Courtois leave the club on a free transfer next summer, according to journalist Duncan Castles.
The goalkeeper’s situation at Stamford Bridge has been a constant source of speculation this summer as his current contract with Chelsea FC is set to expire next summer.
Real Madrid have been heavily linked with a move to bring the goalkeeper to Spain this summer as the clock ticks down on the current transfer window.
Should Courtois make it clear that he has no plans to sign a new contract at Chelsea FC, the Blues will be likely to be keen to move him on this summer rather than risk losing him for nothing this time next year.
And Sunday Times journalist Castles feels that Chelsea FC will likely sell the goalkeeper this summer if he has no intention of staying at Stamford Bridge and signing a new deal.
Speaking on the Transfer Window podcast, Castles said: “Chelsea won’t let a player like Courtois leave on a free transfer. He is a big asset they’ve invested in and they want to recoup money on.”
Chelsea FC completed their first signing of the summer earlier this month when they tied up a deal to bring Jorginho to Stamford Bridge from Napoli.
The Blues are currently getting ready for their first season under new manager Maurizio Sarri following his appointment at Stamford Bridge earlier this month.
