Thibaut Courtois delivers the latest update on his Chelsea FC future
Thibaut Courtois has once again refused to commit his future to Chelsea FC after Belgium’s World Cup run.
The goalkeeper’s situation at Stamford Bridge has been a source of speculation this summer due to the fact that his current contract at the club is due to expire next year.
There have been reports suggesting that Real Madrid could be interested in landing the goalkeeper this summer, and that speculation has been heightened by the fact that some of Courtois’ family live in the Spanish capital.
Courtois and his Belgian team-mates celebrated helping their side finish in third place at the World Cup on Sunday upon their return to their native homeland.
The goalkeeper has now confirmed that he will hold talks with his agent and Chelsea FC in the coming days before making a decision about his long-term future.
Courtois is quoted as saying by the Daily Mail: I will be coming back, for sure, and I will see what they want and how they say it,
“Obviously with this World Cup, I think what was on the table obviously is different than what I can have, maybe.
“In this World Cup, I have ignored all the speculation, all the rumours.
“But now in the next few days I will have a chat with my agent and see what Chelsea told him, and then we will talk. But I feel happy at Chelsea, it’s not that I necessarily want to leave.”
Chelsea FC confirmed the appointment of Maurizio Sarri as the club’s new manager over the weekend after the Blues opted to part company with Antonio Conte.
The west London side then completed their first official signing of the summer when they announce a deal to bring Jorginho to Stamford Bridge.
