Chelsea FC star responds directly to talk of Real Madrid transfer
Thibaut Courtois remains coy on the speculation linking him with a move away from Chelsea FC this summer
Thibaut Courtois has refused to confirm whether he will be staying at Chelsea FC this summer as he continues to be linked with a transfer to Real Madrid.
The 26-year-old goalkeeper’s future has been a relentless source of speculation in recent months due to the fact that his current contract at Stamford Bridge is set to expire next summer.
Chelsea FC are likely to want to cash in on Courtois this summer if he refuses to sign a new deal, rather than risk losing him on a free transfer next summer.
Real Madrid have been strongly linked with a move for the Belgium international, and those rumours have been fuelled by the fact that his family currently live in the Spanish capital.
Courtois helped Belgium to seal a thrilling 3-2 win over Japan in the last 16 of the World Cup on Monday night, and the goalkeeper refused to give any assurances about his future to Chelsea FC fans.
When asked about joining Real Madrid after Belgium’s 3-2 win over Japan on Monday evening, Courtois replied as quoted by Metro: “I’m not going to talk about that now.
“The only thing I’ve always said is that after the World Cup I look at everything.
“The only thing is that my children are the most important and I’ll make the decision that best suits me for everything.”
Meanwhile, Chelsea FC are yet to officially confirm any new signings this summer despite the Blues having missed out on a top-four finish last season.
