According to the same story, Real Madrid could be forced to sell Kovacic this summer, which has alerted Premier League duo Chelsea FC and Spurs.
The 24-year-old has only managed to start a staggering 37 games since his move to Real Madrid from Italian giants Inter Milan in 2015.
The Croatia international has won three successive Champions League titles and the 2016-17 La Liga crown during his three-season stint at The Bernabeu.
Kovacic has impressed at the World Cup in Russia after helping Croatia to reach the quarter-finals following a penalty shootout win over Denmark in the last 16.
Chelsea FC and Tottenham haven’t signed any players in the summer transfer window so far, unlike their rivals Arsenal, Liverpool FC and Manchester United who have all been active.
