Chelsea FC are leading the race to sign CSKA Moscow playmaker Aleksandr Golovin, according to a report in England.

Website Football.London is reporting that the Blues are looking to complete a deal to sign the Russia international.

The same article states that new Chelsea FC manager Maurizio Sarri is keen on a swoop to sign the 22-year-old playmaker this summer.

According to the same story, the Blues are at the front of the queue to sign Golovin despite interest from FC Barcelona, Juventus and Arsenal.

Golovin scored one goal and made two assists in a 5-0 win over Saudi Arabia in a World Cup opener on home soil last month.

The CSKA Moscow midfielder helped the hosts to reach the World Cup quarter-finals after a penalty shootout win over 2010 champions Spain.

Russia lost to Croatia on penalties in the last eight to end their incredible run in front of their home supporters.

Golovin has scored 13 times in 113 games in all competitions over the past four seasons at CSKA Moscow.

The Russian playmaker won the Russian Premier League in 2015-16 and Golovin has made 23 appearances in the Champions League and the Europa League.

Chelsea FC appointed Maurizio Sarri as Antonio Conte’s replacement last week.
