Daniele Rugani would be an intelligent addition to the Chelsea FC squad, Sky Sports News reporter Nick Wright has claimed.

Maurizio Sarri took over the reins of the west London side from Antonio Conte earlier this month after he left Serie A runners up Napoli.

Chelsea FC finished in fifth spot in the Premier League table last term to miss out on a spot in the Champions League to result in Conte’s dismissal.

The Blues struggled defensively last season following the regression of Gary Cahill and David Luiz in the Chelsea FC team.

Furthermore, Chelsea FC will be looking to identify long-term successor for Cahill and John Terry.

Rugani was unable to hold down a regular starting spot in the Juventus team last term despite his obvious talent.

Sky Sports News reporter Wright believes Rugani would be a great signing to improve the Chelsea FC defence.

“He is very composed,” Wright told Transfer Talk podcast. “He is an intelligent centre half. Rugani is very highly rated.

“He is good defensively. His biggest strength is his passing and composure. He can carry the ball out of the defence.”

Chelsea FC made Jorginho their first summer signing in a £57m deal from Serie A side Napoli last week.

The west London outfit managed to see off competition from Premier League champions Manchester City in Jorginho.
