Maurizio Sarri told Chelsea FC should sign Serie A striker
Former Arsenal striker Stewart Robson believes Gonzalo Higuain could thrive at Chelsea FC under Maurizio Sarri
Maurizio Sarri could get the best out of Gonzalo Higuain at Chelsea if the Blues can complete a summer deal, according to ESPN FC pundit Stewart Robson.
The Argentina international is facing an uncertain future at Juventus after the Serie A champions signed Cristiano Ronaldo in a £100m deal from La Liga giants Real Madrid.
Higuain scored 14 times in their title-winning campaign in Serie A last season as the Italian giants won a seventh successive Serie A crown.
Sarri was responsible for helping Higuain to produce his best season in his club career so far after the Argentinian forward netted 36 times in 35 games.
The controversial Italian head coach took over the reins from Antonio Conte at Chelsea FC last weekend following their fifth-placed finish last term.
Sarri has already signed Higuain’s former Napoli team-mate Jorginho in a £57m deal last weekend to improve their options in the middle of the park.
ESPN FC pundit Robson believes Higuain would be a good addition to the Chelsea FC team under Sarri.
“When he played under Benitiez at Napoli he looked lazy,” Robson told ESPN FC. “When Sarri came to Napoli, he was a changed player. It was a good partnership.”
Chelsea FC finished in fifth place in the Premier League table last season to miss out on a spot in the Champions League.
The Blues won the FA Cup thanks to a 1-0 win over Manchester United at Wembley back in May.
