Sky Sports News reporter claims Chelsea FC could sign 25-year-old to replace Courtois
Sky Sports News reporter Dharmesh Sheth believes Chelsea FC could consider a swoop to sign Stoke goalkeeper Jack Butland
Chelsea FC could move to sign Stoke City goalkeeper Jack Butland if Thibaut Courtois leaves this summer, according to Dharmesh Sheth.
The Belgium international has been linked with a potential exit at Stamford Bridge this summer following a difficutl season.
Courtois has won two Premier League titles, the FA Cup and the League Cup during four seasons in the first team at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues finished in fifth spot in the Premier League table last term to miss out on a Champions League spot ahead of the new campaign.
Courtois is thought to be keen on a move to Atletico Madrid or Real Madrid given his ex-girlfriend and children are in the Spanish capital.
Butland is being widely tipped to leave Stoke this summer after the Potters were relegated to the Championship last term.
Sky Sports News reporter Sheth discussed the possibility of Chelsea FC making a swoop to sign Butland in the current transfer window.
“It would be an interesting one,” Sheth told the Transfer Talk podcast. “I would expect him to be the subject of Premier League interest.
“It all depends on what happens with Courtois. If Courtois leaves, I could see them going in.”
Chelsea FC were 1-0 winners against Manchester United in the FA Cup final at Wembley last season.
