Chelsea FC suffer setback in pursuit of 24-year-old Premier League goalkeeper – report
Chelsea FC have been handed a blow with Jordan Pickford set to be offered a new contract by Everton, according to a report
Everton are set to hand England star Jordan Pickford a new contract to stave off interest from FA Cup winners Chelsea FC, according to a report in England.
The Sun, as quoted by the Daily Mirror, is reporting that the Blues are interested in a deal as new manager Maurizio Sarri prepares for life without Real Madrid target Thibaut Courtois.
The same article states that Chelsea FC have identified Pickford as a potential replacement for their current number one ahead of the new Premier League season.
According to the same story, the west London side will turn to Pickford’s England rival Jack Butland to replace Courtois in the Chelsea FC team ahead of the new campaign.
Chelsea FC appointed Sarri as Antonio Conte’s replacement at the end of the 2017-18 season after the Blues finished in fifth place in the Premier League table.
The Blues signed Italy international Jorginho in a £57m deal from Serie A side Napoli to improve their options in the middle of the park despite having N’Golo Kante in their ranks.
Chelsea FC have also signed former England international Rob Green to add more depth to their goalkeeping options ahead of Courtois’ potential exit to Real Madrid.
