Italian reporter claims Chelsea FC will sign 26-year-old ahead of Man City
Chelsea FC are set to beat Man City to the signing of Jorginho as the Blues prepare to appoint Maurizio Sarri as their new manager, according to Fabrizio Romano
Chelsea FC will sign Manchester City target Jorginho as part of the deal that sees Maurizio Sarri take over the reins at Stamford Bridge, according to Italian reporter Fabrizio Romano.
The Blues have emerged as surprise contenders to sign the Italy international over the past week or so despite having failed to complete a summer transfer deal so far.
Jorginho was initially linked with a move to Liverpool FC last term but Manchester City appeared to have won the race to sign the holding midfielder.
However, the Premier League champions have been unable to get a deal over the line for Jorginho and the transfer saga has rumbled on over the past couple of months.
Sarri has been heavily linked with the Chelsea FC position despite the west London side failing to dismiss Antonio Conte.
Sky Sports Italia reporter Romano has taken to Twitter to shed light on the futures of both Jorginho and Sarri as the pair prepare to head to the Premier League.
Romano wrote on Twitter: “And so here we go… Sarri is ready to join Chelsea as new manager on next hours! Jorginho will be in the deal and will prefer Chelsea ahead of Man City. 🔵✔️ 💰€65M (add ons included, €57M for Jorginho + €8M for Sarri) from Chelsea to Napoli! #CFC #Chelsea #transfers ✅”
The Blues finished in fifth spot in the Premier League table last season to miss out on a place in next season’s Champions League.
Chelsea FC won the FA Cup thanks to a 1-0 victory over Manchester United.
