Italian media outlet Calcio Mercato, as quoted by Sporting Witness, is reporting that the Blues are looking to make the Uruguay international one of his first summer signings.
The same article states that imminent Chelsea FC boss Maurizio Sarri has indentified Vecino as a target to improve the Blues defence ahead of the new Premier League campaign.
According to the same story, the west London side would be required to pay a transfer fee in the region of €25m (£22m) to sign the Uruguayan defender.
Chelsea FC finished in fifth spot in the Premier League table last season to miss out on Champions League football for the second time in three seasons.
Italian head coach Antonio Conte did lead the Blues to Premier League title glory in his first season in charge after the west London side finished seven points clear at the top of the table.
However, Chelsea FC ended up in fifth spot last term but Conte’s side ended the campaign on a positive note with a 1-0 win over Manchester United in the FA Cup final at Wembley.
