Ex-Liverpool FC goalkeeper Pepe Reina replies to Chelsea FC transfer speculation
Former Liverpool FC goalkeeper Pepe Reina replies to speculation linking Chelsea FC with a swoop for the AC Milan shot stopper
Pepe Reina has remained tight lipped on speculation linking the former Liverpool FC goalkeeper with a move to Chelsea FC.
The Spain international is being touted as a potential replacement for Chelsea FC number one Thibaut Courtois in the current transfer window.
The Belgian shot stopper is thought to be keen on a return to Madrid where his children and ex girlfriend are based at the moment.
Courtois has 12 months left on his current Chelsea FC deal to raise the possibility of the Belgium international leaving for nothing next summer.
Real Madrid are thought to be closing in on a £31m deal to sign the 27-year-old in the summer transfer window to replace Costa Rica international Keylor Navas.
Reina made 394 appearances for Liverpool FC during eight seasons at the Anfield outfit before his move to Bayern Munich in 2014.
The AC Milan goalkeeper was asked about recent speculation linking the Spanish star with a move to Chelsea FC before the close of the Premier League’s summer transfer window.
Reina told CMC: “They are just rumours.
“I have only just arrived. I want to enjoy these days with the boys and integrate with the group as quickly as possible. I want to give my best, my contribution and continue to improve.”
Chelsea FC finished in fifth spot in the Premier League last season to miss out on a spot in the Champions League.
The Blues won the FA Cup last season thanks to a 1-0 win over Manchester United.
