Journalist claims Chelsea FC star is Real Madrid’s second-choice target
Belgian reporter Kristof Terreur claims Chelsea FC shot stopper Thibaut Courtois is Real Madrid's second-choice in transfer window
Thibaut Courtois is Real Madrid’s second-choice option to improve their options in goal, according to Belgian reporter Kristof Terreur.
The Chelsea FC number one has been regularly linked with a move to the west London outfit over the past few seasons but a deal has failed to materialise so far.
The Blues missed out on a place in the top four to leave Chelsea FC without Champions League football for the 2018-19 season.
Courtois would surely be loathe to miss out on the Champions League for the second time in three seasons.
The 26-year-old is thought to be keen on a return to Madrid after the shot stopper spent three seasons on loan at Atletico.
However, Real Madrid are keen on a deal to sign Liverpool FC target Alisson Becker from Serie A giants AS Roma.
Belgian reporter Terreur confirmed that Courtois isn’t Real Madrid’s number one choice to improve their goalkeeping options this term.
“Real Madrid are sniffing around. Courtois is second choice,” Terreur told the Transfer Talk podcast. “They are in talks to sign Alisson. Real Madrid have spoken to Chelsea, They know what he will cost.”
Chelsea FC were 1-0 winners against Manchester United in the FA Cup final at Wembley last season after Eden Hazard’s winner from the penalty spot.
The Blues finished in fifth spot in the Premier League table behind Liverpool FC and Tottenham Hotspur last season to miss out on a Champions League spot
