Journalist claims Man United could agree to deadline day swap deal
Sky Sports News reporter Michael Bridge believes Man United and Spurs could agree to a sensational swap deal
Manchester United could agree to a deadline day swap deal with Tottenham Hotspur that would see Toby Alderweireld and Anthony Martial head in opposite directions, according to Sky Sports News reporter Michael Bridge.
The Red Devils have been linked with a swoop to sign the Belgium international in the current transfer window to bolster their defence.
Alderweireld is one of the top centre-halves in the Premier League over the past few seasons following his move from Atletico Madrid.
The 29-year-old is set to become a free agent at the end of the 2018-19 season unless Spurs decide to activate a clause in his contract.
Spurs have the option to extend Alderweireld’s deal by an extra 12 months but the Belgian centre-half will be available to sign for £25m.
Tottenham, on the other hand, are reported to be keen on Martial to bolster their attacking options on the wing.
Sky Sports News reporter Bridge believes Manchester United and Tottenham could agree to a sensational swap deal on the final day of the summer transfer window.
“There could even be a deadline day swap between Martial and Alderweireld,” Bridge told the Transfer Talk podcast.
Manchester United finished in second place in the Premier League table last season but the Red Devils ended up 19 points adrift of runaway champions Manchester City.
