The Liverpool FC manager discusses the expectations of the fans ahead of the new Premier League season
Jurgen Klopp has reassured Liverpool FC supporters that he is aware of their expectations ahead of the new Premier League season.
The Merseyside outfit finished in fourth place in consecutive seasons to ensure their continued participation in the Champions League.
Liverpool FC lost 3-1 to La Liga giants Real Madrid in the Champions League final back in May to miss out on a first trophy under Klopp.
The Reds have signed Brazil international Fabinho from AS Monaco and Guinea midfielder Naby Keita from RB Leipzig to improve their options in the middle of the park.
Liverpool FC snapped up Switzerland international Xherdan Shaqiri in a £13.5m deal from relegated Stoke City earlier this month.
The Merseyside club made Brazil international Alisson Becker the world’s most expensive goalkeeper following a £67m switch from Italian giants AS Roma.
Speaking to BBC Sport about talk of Liverpool FC challenging for the Premier League title, Klopp said:
“I know about the expectations and that is completely normal.
“We have the highest ambitions – 100%.”
Liverpool FC have never won the Premier League title but finished in second place in 2002, 2009 and 2014.
The Reds have lost in the League Cup, the Europa League and the Champions League finals since Klopp took over the reins from Brendan Rodgers.
The Merseyside outfit have finished in the top four in consecutive seasons for the first time since the Rafael Benitez era.
