New Liverpool FC signing explains why he picked the Reds
Alisson Becker believes that playing for Liverpool FC will end up making him very happy after he completed his transfer
Alisson Becker believes that playing for Liverpool FC will end up making him very happy after he completed his move to Merseyside this week.
The Brazilian goalkeeper signed for the Reds on Thursday night from AS Roma after having been heavily linked with a transfer to the club all summer.
Chelsea FC were thought to also be interested in Alisson as the speculation about Thibaut Courtois’ future continues at Stamford Bridge.
However, the 25-year-old ended up swiftly completing his move to the Merseyside outfit this week as Jurgen Klopp moved quickly to bolster his options between the posts ahead of next season.
Alisson will be hoping to help the Reds to challenge for the Premier League title next season under Klopp.
And the goalkeeper has admitted that he is thrilled to have finally completed his move to the Merseyside outfit this week.
Speaking to Liverpool FC’s website, Alisson said: “As I said previously, Liverpool are a team with a habit of winning, that have fanatical fans that are behind the team in every game.
“Playing against them last year in the Champions League, I was able to experience that atmosphere and that game had an influence on me.
“Once I heard they were interested in me, I started thinking about the possibility of playing for Liverpool.
“I’m coming from a club where I was very happy and I’m sure I’ll be very happy here.”
Liverpool FC will be hoping to be one of the main contenders for the Premier League title next season, with the Reds having not yet won a trophy under Klopp since his appointment in 2015.
The Reds ended up losing the Champions League final to Real Madrid back in May.
