New Liverpool FC signing reflects on ‘huge step’
Alisson Becker reflects on his decision to sign for Liverpool FC from AS Roma this week
Alisson Becker has reflected on taking a “huge step” in his career after signing for Liverpool FC on Thursday night.
The Brazilian goalkeeper had been relentlessly linked with a move to Anfield this summer as Jurgen Klopp looked for reinforcements between the posts after Loris Karius’ Champions League final nightmare.
Alisson had also been linked with Chelsea FC but he ended up signing a long-term contract with Liverpool FC after leaving AS Roma this week.
The 25-year-old will now be hoping to hold down a regular spot in the first team at Anfield as he looks to establish himself as the new number one between the posts.
And the shot-stopper has revealed his delight at finally ending the speculation about his future by committing to the Merseyside outfit.
Speaking in his first interview with Liverpool FC’s website since completing his transfer, Alisson said: “I’m really happy, it’s a dream come true to wear such a prestigious shirt for a club of this size that is used to always winning.
“In terms of my life and my career it’s a huge step for me being part of this club and this family. You can be certain that I’ll give my all.”
Liverpool FC will be aiming to try and challenge for the Premier League title next season as they bid to try and win their first trophy under Klopp.
The Reds finished in fourth place in the Premier League table last term and reached the Champions League final, where they ended up being beaten by Real Madrid in Kiev.
