Chris Kirkland rates new Liverpool FC signing
Chris Kirkland delivers his verdict on new Liverpool FC signing Alisson Becker
Chris Kirkland believes that Alisson Becker can be the final piece in the jigsaw at Liverpool FC following his move the Merseyside club from AS Roma last week.
The Brazilian goalkeeper signed for the Reds from AS Roma on Thursday night as Jurgen Klopp moved quickly to bolster his options between the posts ahead of next season.
Alisson has been brought in by Klopp after Loris Karius’ Champions League final nightmare last season prompted the German manager to start looking for a new shot-stopper.
And former Liverpool FC goalkeeper Kirkland seems to think that Alisson will fit in well at Anfield following his big-money move to the Merseyside outfit.
Speaking in an interview with Sky Sports News, Kirkland said: “He [Alisson] is calm, he’s got great distribution from the back and he’s got a good record at Roma.
“He was very reliable [at Roma] which you need in this Premier League but it is going to be tough for him. There will be big pressure on him when he comes to Liverpool but there is one thing for sure the fans will give him all the support he needs.
“We’ll see [if he proves to be one of the signings of the summer]. I’ve been a Liverpool fan all my life since I was eight years old, so hopefully he will be the last piece of the jigsaw.”
Liverpool FC are looking to challenge for the Premier League title next season after they finished in fourth place in the table last season under Klopp.
The Reds are still looking to win their first major trophy since Klopp’s appointment at Anfield back in the autumn of 2015.
They ended up losing the Champions League final 3-1 to Real Madrid last season following Karius’ disastrous display in Kiev.
Liverpool FC will at least be looking to compete with the likes of Manchester City for the title next term.
