New Liverpool FC signing reveals conversation with Roberto Firmino
Alisson Becker reveals that he spoke regularly to Roberto Firmino ahead of his transfer to Liverpool FC
Alisson Becker has revealed that he spoke regularly to Roberto Firmino ahead of his transfer to Liverpool FC from AS Roma this week.
The Brazilian goalkeeper ended up signing for the Reds on Thursday night after having been strongly linked with a move to Anfield for much of the summer.
Alisson had been thought to be a target for Chelsea FC this summer but he ended up signing for the Reds this week as Jurgen Klopp moved quickly to bolster his options between the posts ahead of next season.
Now, Alisson has revealed that he was in constant contact with his Brazil team-mate Firmino ahead of his transfer to Liverpool FC this week.
Speaking in an interview with Liverpool FC’s website, Alisson said: “I’ve spoken to him [Firmino].
“I had spoken to him before things really started to happen. When the negotiations became official I spoke to him and I only heard good things about the club and the city.
“He is a player who feels really at home here. He is loved by the fans and really popular with his teammates. He is a great person and only had positive things to say.
“He said if I were to come here, I’d be really happy as well. Putting our friendship to one side and the time we spent together with the national team, I’m really happy to be at the same club as him and have the same daily routine as him. Hopefully we can develop a great deal together.”
Liverpool FC will be looking to at least challenge for the Premier League title next season after they finished in fourth place in the table and without a trophy last term.
The Reds reached the Champions League final but ended up losing 3-1 to Real Madrid back in May.
Liverpool FC are still looking to win their first trophy under Klopp since his appointment at Anfield as Brendan Rodgers’ successor back in October 2015.
