Jordan Henderson reveals that he's been in regular contact with Liverpool FC boss Jurgen Klopp during the World Cup
Jordan Henderson has revealed that he has been in regular contact with Jurgen Klopp during England’s brilliant World Cup run to the semi-finals.
The Liverpool FC midfielder is currently on duty with his national team in Russia as he bids to try and help the Three Lions win the World Cup for the first time since 1966.
Henderson helped England to claim a 2-0 win over Sweden in the quarter-finals in their most recent outing on Saturday, as Gareth Southgate’s men set up a semi-final showdown with Croatia.
Should England progress to the final, they will take on either Belgium or France, who go head to head in the other semi-final on Tuesday night.
Now, Liverpool FC midfielder Henderson has admitted that he has been regularly hearing from his club manager during England’s World Cup run.
Asked if he has spoken to Klopp at all, Henderson told BBC Sport prior to beating Sweden: “Yeah [regular contact] after games normally, and he’s so happy.
“I just keep seeing texts saying, ‘Yes England! Come on!’ So he’s buzzing that we’re doing well.”
Meanwhile, Liverpool FC began their pre-season campaign on Saturday with a 7-0 thrashing of Chester.
The Reds will be looking to mount a serious Premier League title challenge next season as they aim to try and win their first trophy since Klopp’s appointment at Anfield back in October 2015.
