Jurgen Klopp told to make this key Liverpool FC signing
Phil Thompson wants Liverpool FC to make a move to sign a new goalkeeper this summer
Phil Thompson has urged Jurgen Klopp to make a move to sign a new goalkeeper in the summer transfer window for Liverpool FC.
The Merseyside outfit have been strongly linked with a move to bring a new shot-stopper to Anfield this summer after Loris Karius’ nightmare in the Champions League final.
The Reds have been linked with moves for the likes of Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson and Atletico Madrid star Jan Oblak as they look to bolster their squad ahead of next season.
However, Liverpool FC have so far only signed Brazilian midfielder Fabinho from Monaco this summer as Klopp looks to try and prepare his side for a Premier League title challenge next season.
Now, Liverpool FC legend Thompson has urged the Reds to make a move to bring in a new shot-stopper this summer as they look to strengthen their squad ahead of next term.
Speaking in an interview with the Liverpool Echo, Thompson said: “I also hope that Jurgen is looking for an upgrade on the keeper situation. Loris Karius and Simon Mignolet are good keepers but are they top quality?
“Are they in the same bracket as Thibaut Courtois and David De Gea? The honest answer is no.”
Liverpool FC are still looking to win their first trophy since Klopp’s appointment at Anfield back in the autumn of 2015.
The Reds reached the Champions League final last term but were beaten by Real Madrid, as they finished fourth in the Premier League.
