Colombia star’s agent responds to Liverpool FC transfer talk
Yerry Mina's agent says that the defender has no plans to leave FC Barcelona this summer
Yerry Mina’s agent has said that the defender has no plans to leave FC Barcelona this summer despite the reports linking him with Liverpool FC, according to the player’s agent and uncle.
Liverpool FC have been touted as a possible destination for the defender this summer as Jurgen Klopp looks to assemble a squad capable of challenging for the Premier League title next season.
Those reports have come despite the fact that Mina only signed for FC Barcelona from Palmeiras for €11.8m (£10.5m) in the January transfer window.
Now though, the 23-year-old defender’s agent has appeared to pour cold water on talk of Mina leaving FC Barcelona this summer.
Agent Jair Mina is quoted as saying by Metro: “I’m not aware of any bids
“The player has a contract with Barcelona and wants to stay at Barcelona. We’re going to see what the situation is with the club, but we don’t have any information [regarding a move].
“He moved in January to succeed at a big club and Barca are a big club.
“He is convinced he will get the chance to do big things and our idea is that he stays where he is.”
Meanwhile, Liverpool FC have so far only made one official signing this summer after having completed a deal to bring in Brazilian midfielder Fabinho from Monaco.
The Reds are thought to be on the lookout for a number of other new signings this summer as Klopp looks to guide his side to their first trophy since his appointment at Anfield back in the autumn of 2015.
The Merseyside outfit finished in fourth place in the Premier League table and reached the Champions League final last season.
