New Liverpool FC signing sends message to Mo Salah
Xherdan Shaqiri reveals that he is looking forward to linking up with Mohamed Salah at Liverpool FC
Xherdan Shaqiri has revealed that he is looking forward to linking up with Mohamed Salah at Anfield following his transfer to Liverpool FC this week.
The 26-year-old signed for the Reds from Stoke City on Friday night as Liverpool FC moved quickly to bring the attacker to Anfield to bolster their options ahead of next season.
Shaqiri knows the Premier League well, after having played for the Potters for three years before moving to Liverpool FC this summer.
Salah has established himself as one of European football’s top attacking players since his move to Anfield from AS Roma last summer.
And the Switzerland international has admitted that he is looking forward to linking up with new team-mate Salah at Anfield next season.
Speaking in an interview with Liverpool FC’s website, Shaqiri said: “I don’t know him so well but he came for training and a trial when I was at Basel.
“He came to train two or three times, I trained with him. Then I went to Bayern Munich and he stayed in Basel.
“I’m happy that I see him here. He had an amazing season last year and I hope he can do it this year too.”
Liverpool FC will be looking to at least challenge for the Premier League title next season after they finished in fourth place in the table and without a trophy last season.
The Reds ended up losing the Champions League final to Real Madrid in Kiev back in May.
Liverpool FC are still searching for their first major trophy since Klopp’s appointment at Anfield back in October 2015.
