The 24-year-old France international has been heavily linked with a move to Anfield all summer and he was thought to be close to joining the Reds last month.
However, the proposed deal fell through and that prompted the French side to announce a statement claiming that Fekir will be remaining at the club for next season.
Despite that, there have continued to be reports linking Liverpool FC with a move to bring Fekir to the club from Lyon in recent weeks.
However, Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has now insisted that he is fully expecting Fekir to stay at the French club for next season.
Speaking in an interview with RMC Sport, Aulas said on Saturday: “I think that Nabil will be at OL next season.
“I have almost a father-son relationship with my players, I gave him the chance to go to Liverpool because it was his dream club.
“I did that too with Tolisso and Umtiti, he is our captain and it is the coach’s wish to keep him.”
Any move for Liverpool FC to sign Fekir would likely have to be completed after France’s involvement in the World Cup.
France will take on Belgium in the semi-finals of the tournament in Russia on Tuesday night as they look to try and book their place in the semi-finals.
England, meanwhile, will play Croatia in the other semi-final on Wednesday in Russia.
