Jurgen Klopp expresses his delight at seeing Mo Salah sign a new long-term contract with Liverpool FC
Jurgen Klopp has expressed his delight at seeing Mohamed Salah commit his future to Liverpool FC by signing a new long-term contract on Monday.
The Egypt international was one of European football’s top performing players last season as he helped the Reds to reach the Champions League final and finish in fourth place in the Premier League table.
Salah was voted as the PFA player of the year as he enjoyed a hugely successful first campaign in England after his move from AS Roma last summer.
The 26-year-old’s new contract is believed to be a five-year deal, although Liverpool FC have not officially disclosed its length.
And Liverpool FC boss Klopp has expressed his delight at seeing the Egypt international commit his future to the Merseyside outfit by penning a new contract this week.
Speaking to Liverpool FC’s website, Klopp said: “I think this news can be seen for what it is – rewarding a person who performed and contributed greatly for the team and the club last season.
“It demonstrates two things very clearly also – his belief in Liverpool and our belief in him.
“We want world-class talent to see they have a home at Anfield where they can fulfil all their professional dreams and ambitions – we are working hard together to achieve this.”
Liverpool FC are believed to be on the lookout for a number of new signings this summer as they bid to build a squad capable of challenging for the Premier League title next season.
The Reds have already brought in Brazilian midfielder Fabinho from Monaco as their first signing of the summer transfer window earlier back in June.
