Liverpool FC agree deal to sign 26-year-old attacker, claims journalist
Liverpool FC are set to sign Xherdan Shaqiri from Stoke City, according to John Percy
Liverpool FC have agreed a deal with Stoke City to sign Xherdan Shaqiri this summer, according to reporter John Percy.
The Reds have been strongly linked with a move to sign the Switzerland international in the summer transfer window after Stoke City were relegated from the Premier League last season.
Jurgen Klopp is believed to be on the lookout for a number of new signings this summer as they look to build a squad capable of challenging for the title next season.
Now, Daily Telegraph journalist Percy is claiming that a fee has been agreed between the two clubs, and that the 26-year-old was to undergo a medical at Melwood ahead of the transfer going through.
Percy also reveals that Shaqiri’s release clause at Stoke City is around £13.75m and that he is set to become the Reds’ third summer signing.
Percy wrote on Twitter: “Xherdan Shaqiri set for medical at Liverpool on Friday. Deal agreed with Stoke, release clause is around £13.75m. Will be Klopp’s third summer signing #lfc #scfc.”
Liverpool FC have already moved quickly to start bolstering their squad this summer, with the Reds having landed Brazilian midfielder Fabinho earlier in the window.
The Merseyside outfit will be looking to challenge for the Premier League title next season after they finished in fourth place and reached the Champions League final last term under Klopp.
