Xherdan Shaqiri has heaped praise on Mohamed Salah following his brilliant form for Liverpool FC last season.

The Egypt international was one of European football’s top performing players last term following his move to Anfield from AS Roma in the summer transfer window last year.

Salah netted a staggering 44 goals in all competitions for Jurgen Klopp’s men to help them to finish in fourth place in the Premier League table and reach the Champions League final.

Shaqiri is now set to link up with Salah at Anfield next season after he signed for Liverpool FC from Stoke City on Friday night.

And the 26-year-old has admitted that he cannot wait to line up with the Egypt international next season following his sparkling debut campaign at Anfield.

Speaking in an interview with Liverpool FC’s website, Shaqiri said: “I’m very happy for him that he had this beautiful season because he is a very nice guy, a good guy.

“The most important thing is for the club to work and he had an amazing season. Players are always sad when they don’t win trophies but hopefully we can do it this year.”

Liverpool FC have so far signed Shaqiri, Naby Keita and Fabinho this summer.

The Reds are still believed to be on the lookout for a number of new signings this summer as they bid to build a squad capable of winning the Premier League title next term.

Liverpool FC have not yet won a major trophy since Klopp’s appointment at Anfield back in 2015.
