Liverpool FC are looking to complete a £62m deal to sign Brazil goalkeeper Alisson Becker from Serie A giants AS Roma in the summer transfer window, according to a report in Italy.

Italian media outlet Il Messaggero, as quoted by the Daily Mirror, is reporting that the Reds are set to finally address their goalkeeping problem in the current transfer market.

The same article states that Liverpool FC have made a world record offer for a goalkeeper after the Merseyside outfit submitted a £62m (€70m) offer for the Brazil number one.

According to the same story, the Reds will face competition from their Premier League rivals Chelsea FC to sign the 26-year-old before the start of the new Premier League season.

The Daily Mirror goes on to claim that AS Roma are looking for a transfer fee in the region of £80m, a sum that Liverpool FC would not be prepared to pay for Alisson.

Liverpool FC signed Brazil international Fabinho in a £40m deal from Ligue 1 side AS Monaco at the start of the summer transfer window.

The Reds finally added Naby Keita in a £48m switch from Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig to improve their midfield options.

Xherdan Shaqiri completed a switch to Liverpool FC from Stoke City last week.
