Journalist claims Liverpool FC no longer interested in signing 26-year-old Serie A star
Liverpool FC won't be signing AS Roma goalkeeper Alisson Becker this summer, according to David Maddock
Liverpool FC haven’t made a €65m bid to sign Alisson Becker and the Reds are no longer interested in the Brazil international, according to Merseyside reporter David Maddock.
The Reds have been regularly linked with a move to sign the South American shot stopper in the current transfer window but a move has failed to materialise despite the speculation.
Liverpool FC were rumoued to be in the market to sign a new goalkeeper following Loris Karius’ disastrous performance in the Champions League final.
Alisson was thought to be at the top of Jurgen Klopp’s wish list but their Premier League rivals Chelsea FC and La Liga giants Real Madrid were also rumoured to be interested in Karius.
However, reports over the past week suggested that the Liverpool FC boss was willing to stick with Karius for another season despite his horror shot in Kiev.
Daily Mirror reporter Madrrock has ruled out Liverpool FC signing Alisson this summer despite reports in Italy.
Maddock wrote on Twitter: “Widespread reports in Italy on €65m Liverpool bid for Alisson…completely wrong (unfortunately). NO bid from @LFC, no contact at all with player or club. No plans to bid at this stage either. Was some interest earlier in window, but cooled and not revived. #LFC”
Understandably, the suggestion that Karius could be between the sticks for another campaign has caused disconcertion amongst some Liverpool FC supporters.
The German goalkeeper was already caught on camera making a mistake during Liverpool FC’s warm up ahead of a 7-0 win over Chester City.
To compound their misery, Karius was at fault for Tranmere Rovers’ first goal in Liverpool FC’s 3-2 victory over their local rivals earlier this week.
