Insider confirms Liverpool FC in discussions over world record move for Alisson
Liverpool Echo reporter James Pearce claims the Reds have made world record bid for Alisson Becker
Liverpool FC are in ongoing discussions with AS Roma over a world record move for Alisson Becker, according to Merseyside reporter James Pearce.
The Reds are in the market to sign a new goalkeeper following Loris Karius’ horror show in the Champions League final in Kiev back in May.
The German shot stopper made two mistakes to help los Blancos ease to a 3-1 win over Liverpool FC in the European Cup showpiece.
Liverpool FC have been heavily linked with a move to sign Alisson since Karius’ forgettable night in Ukraine.
However, the Reds were thought to be facing competition from FA Cup winners Chelsea FC and La Liga giants Real Madrid.
But the Champions League winners appear to have set their sights on signing Thibaut Courtois from Chelsea FC.
Liverpool Echo reporter Pearce claimed that the Reds have entered into negotiations with AS Roma over a £62m deal for Alisson.
Pearce wrote on Twitter: “Liverpool have made their move for Alisson. Bid of around £62m. #LFC”
He added: “Offer is £53m up front with a further £9m in add ons. Discussions ongoing. #LFC”
Liverpool FC have signed Brazil international Fabinho in a £40m deal from Ligue 1 side AS Monaco last month.
The Reds have also added RB Leipzig midfielder Naby Keita following a £48m agreement with the Bundesliga outfit.
Xherdan Shaqiri became their third summer signing at the weekend.
