German reporter warns Liverpool FC will have to spend over £100m on 19-year-old attacker
German reporter Max Bielefeld claims Liverpool FC and Man United will have to spend over £100m on Christian Pulisic
Liverpool FC and Manchester United would have to cough up a transfer fee in excess of £100m to sign Borussia Dortmund playmaker Christian Pulisic, according to German reporter Max Bielefeld.
The United States international has been regularly linked with a switch to the Premier League since Pulisic broke through at Dortmund in the 2016-17 Bundesliga season.
Pulisic was brought to Westfalenstadion during Jurgen Klopp’s tenure in charge of Dortmund before he stood down at the end of the 2015-16 campaign.
Naturally, German head coach Klopp has been linked with a move to bring the American playmaker to Liverpool FC over the past few seasons.
Manchester United have also been touted with an interest in the Borussia Dortmund playmaker to bolster their attacking options.
However, German reporter Bielefeld believes Dortmund will be reluctant to sell Pulisic in the 2018 summer transfer window.
“Yes. It would take serious, serious money. They would never let Pulisic go,” Bielefeld told the Transfer Talk podcast.
“They want him to be the new face of Dortmund. The fans really love him. He was the number one option on the wing when Marco Reus was injured.
“He has a contract under 2020. Under £100m, they won’t even look at the offer. There is no pressure to sell him this year. He will remain for another year.”
Pulisic has scored 12 goals in 97 games over the past three seasons at the Bundesliga giants.
The Dortmund playmaker has netted nine times in 21 appearances for the United States national team.
Liverpool FC have signed AS Monaco midfielder Fabinho and RB Leipzig star Naby Keita so far this summer.
Manchester United, meanwhile, have added Shakhtar Donetsk star Fred and FC Porto defender Diogo Dalot to their squad.
