Jurgen Klopp wants Liverpool FC to sign controversial 29-year-old defender – report
The Liverpool FC boss want to sign Croatia international Domagoj Vida in the summer transfer window, according to a report
Liverpool FC manager Jurgen Klopp is interested in a potential deal to sign Croatia’s controversial centre-half Domagoj Vida, according to a report in Turkey.
Turkish media outlet Aksam, as quoted by the Daily Mirror, is reporting that Klopp would like replicate Vida’s impressive Croatian centre-half partnership with Dejan Lovren at Anfield next term.
The same article states that Liverpool FC are willing to pay £12m to sign the Besiktas defender as cover for Lovren and the world’s most expensive defender Virgil van Dijk in the Premier League next season.
According to the same story, Liverpool FC could be forced to pay an inflated fee to sign Vida given his impressive performances at the World Cup in Russia.
Vida has forged a brilliant centre-half partnership with Lovren to help Croatia reach the semi-finals following penalty shootout victories over Denmark and Russia in the knockout stage.
Liverpool FC have signed Brazil international Fabinho in a £40m deal from Ligue 1 side AS Monaco earlier this summer to improve their options in the middle of the park following Emre Can’s switch to Serie A champions Juventus on a free transfer.
The Reds have also added Guinea international Naby Keita from RB Leipzig last summer.
