Jurgen Klopp told Liverpool FC shouldn’t sign World Cup star
Liverpool FC legend Steve Nicol claims the Reds should avoid signing Domagoj Vida
Liverpool FC should avoid signing Croatia and Besiktas defender Domagoj Vida this summer, Steve Nicol has claimed.
The Reds have been linked with a surprise swoop to sign the 29-year-old World Cup star in the current transfer window.
Vida has forged an impressive partnership with Liverpool FC centre-half Dejan Lovren to help Croatia reach the World Cup final.
Indeed, the Besikitas defender impressed in Croatia’s 2-1 extra-time win over England in the World Cup last four.
However, Vida couldn’t help Croatia avoid a 4-2 loss to France in the World Cup final earlier this month.
Liverpool FC could be in the market to improve their defensive options this summer to provide cover for Lovren and Virgil van Dijk.
Former Liverpool FC defender Nicol doesn’t want the Reds to sign Vida in the current transfer window.
Asked whether the Reds should sign Vida, Nicol said: “I would say no.”
Liverpool FC have signed Fabinho, Naby Keita, Xherdan Shaqiri and Alisson Becker in the summer transfer window so far.
The Reds lost 3-1 to Real Madrid in the Champions League final last season, while Liverpool FC finished in fourth spot.
The Reds haven’t won the Premier League title but finished in second place in 2002, 2009 and 2014.
