John Barnes identifies signings Liverpool FC need to make this summer
The former Liverpool FC captain believes Jurgen Klopp needs to more signings in the summer transfer windowx
John Barnes has urged Jurgen Klopp to add a centre-half and a recognised goal-scorer to his Liverpool FC squad in the summer transfer window.
The Reds have already signed Brazil international Fahinho in a £39m deal from Ligue 1 side AS Monaco last month.
Fabinho will be tasked with improving Klopp’s options in the middle of the park following Emre Can’s free transfer to Serie A giants Juventus.
Liverpool FC have also added Guinea international Naby Keita to their squad after the Reds agreed to a £48m deal with RB Leipzig last summer.
The Merseyside outfit finished in fourth spot in the Premier League table last season to ensure their continued participation in the Champions League.
Liverpool FC lost 3-1 to La Liga giants Real Madrid in the Champions League final in Kiev to miss out on a first trophy under Klopp.
However, former Reds captain Barnes believes Liverpool FC need to sign a new centre-half and a proven striker before the close of the summer transfer window.
“I still think they need another centre-back even though Lovren has improved since Van Dijk came in,” Barnes told Bonus Code Bets.
“And I know Salah did incredibly well to score 44 goals but he’ll struggle to repeat last season and he’s not an out and out striker.
“I think Liverpool need a recognised goalscorer.
“Obviously firmino is playing in there but he isn’t a No.9.
“They need a proper goalscoring No.9 to play through the middle and provide a different option.”
Liverpool FC appointed Klopp as Brendan Rodgers’ successor in October 2015 but the German head coach still hasn’t won a trophy since taking over the reins at Anfield.
