Jurgen Klopp reveals his delight at seeing Mohamed Salah sign a new contract with Liverpool FC
Jurgen Klopp has revealed his delight at seeing Mohamed Salah commit his long-term future to Liverpool FC by signing a new contract with the Merseyside outfit.
The Egypt international signed a new five-year contract with the Reds on Monday after his brilliant debut campaign on Merseyside last season.
Salah was one of the Premier League’s top performing players last season after he signed for the Reds from AS Roma last summer.
The 25-year-old was voted as the PFA player of the year after scoring more than 40 goals in all competitions for the Merseyside outfit.
The news of Liverpool FC tying Salah down to a new long-term deal will delight Reds fans, and Klopp believes that it indicates that the Merseyside outfit are heading in the right direction.
Speaking to Liverpool FC’s website, Klopp said: “It is [great news], but it will not be a surprise that I have known this for a few days longer!
“It is a fantastic sign, I love it. It only shows the big difference this club has made. For the boys, they really know we are back on track.
“We are not where we want to be, but we are on a good way. These kind of players like him and Bobby [Firmino], they want to stay and be part of this in the future and that’s really a fantastic sign.
“It’s a big achievement for all of us. I really think the atmosphere around the club is again exceptional.
“That is what we all enjoy over the season and now we know that for quite a long time Mo Salah will be a part of it.”
Liverpool FC are still believed to be on the lookout for a number of new signings this summer as they look to try and build a team capable of winning the Premier League title next season.
The Merseyside outfit finished in fourth place in the Premier League table last season and reached the Champions League final, where they were beaten by Real Madrid in Kiev back in May.
